AI Data Center Security Standard

New government guidance (NIST's draft SP 800-239) that specifically addresses how to secure the massive, specialized computing facilities that train and run AI models — distinct from guidance for ordinary data centers. It covers risks unique to AI infrastructure, such as protecting expensive AI chips and the high-speed networks connecting them.
As AI shifts from a software problem to a physical-infrastructure problem, boards overseeing AI investment should expect new compliance requirements around the data centers and hardware their AI runs on, not just the software.
