The practice of encrypting and authenticating the messages that AI agents send to each other — especially at the network 'edge' where agents may coordinate outside a central data center. Vendors are now reporting significant performance gains for encrypting this traffic without major latency costs.
Why it matters
As companies deploy fleets of AI agents that negotiate and hand off tasks to one another, unsecured agent-to-agent traffic becomes a new, largely invisible channel for data leakage or hijacking if left unencrypted.
