Convention 108+

An international privacy treaty, broader than the EU's GDPR because it also covers non-EU countries like Argentina, Morocco, and Mexico, that binds 55 governments to common data-protection principles. Its committee is now drafting specific guidance on privacy and security for AI chatbots and autonomous AI agents.
Because it reaches well beyond Europe, new AI-specific guidance under this treaty could become a de facto global privacy baseline for AI systems, affecting companies operating outside the EU's own rules.
