Biodesign audit trail (AI)

A tamper-evident log that records every step an AI system took when designing biological sequences — including what inputs were provided, what model settings were used, and what outputs were generated — so that regulators and biosecurity reviewers can verify that AI-assisted biological research was conducted safely and lawfully.
As AI dramatically speeds up biological design, the inability to verify after the fact whether a novel sequence was created for legitimate research or for harm is a critical biosecurity gap — an audit trail is the minimal accountability infrastructure that makes oversight possible.
