Definition
MOSAIC is an effort by two major AI security bodies, SANS Institute and OWASP, to merge their previously separate guidance into one aligned taxonomy of AI risks and defenses. This reduces confusion for organizations that previously had to reconcile competing frameworks when building AI security programs.
Why it matters
A single, harmonized industry vocabulary makes it easier for boards to set clear AI security requirements for vendors and staff, and reduces compliance cost from juggling incompatible standards.
