Definition
A regulatory obligation to report AI-generated child sexual abuse material just as one would report real imagery. Laws are being extended so that mandatory-reporting duties cover sexually explicit synthetic images produced by AI, not only photographs of real children.
Why it matters
AI can now mass-produce convincing synthetic abuse imagery, exposing a gap in existing reporting law. Closing that gap matters to compliance, platform liability, and investigator workloads.
