IMDA Publishes Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI v1.5 — Real-World Case Studies and Multi-Agent Risk Controls

Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) published version 1.5 of its Model AI Governance Framework for Agentic AI on 20 May 2026. This update incorporates feedback from over 60 organisations — including AWS, DBS, Google, and Salesforce — and adds more than ten real-world case studies of agentic deployments operationalising the framework. New guidance explicitly covers: managing risks from multi-agent systems and third-party agents, addressing automation bias, bounded risk design (limiting agent tool access and action scope at the planning stage), meaningful human oversight calibrated to action reversibility and risk level, and continuous post-deployment monitoring. The framework was originally launched at Davos in January 2026; v1.5 is the first industry-feedback-informed revision.
This is the most detailed practitioner-facing agentic AI governance guidance published by any national regulator to date, and it arrives as organisations are accelerating production deployment of multi-agent systems. The case studies transform abstract principles (least-privilege tool access, human-in-the-loop approval thresholds, identity and traceability of agent actions) into operational patterns that can be directly referenced in AI vendor selection, procurement contracts, and internal governance policies. Singapore's frameworks consistently become reference documents for regulators across Southeast Asia and beyond, making this v1.5 a strong leading indicator for regional AI governance expectations.
Download and review IMDA MGF for Agentic AI v1.5 against your current agentic AI deployments this week. Map your agent permission designs against the framework's 'Assess and Bound Risks Upfront' section; audit whether each production agent has defined scope limits, reversibility controls, and an identity/traceability mechanism. Update any AI vendor agreements referencing the original January 2026 version to reflect v1.5 requirements.
