What happened
Box added MCP Guardrails for the Box MCP Server: admins configure per-tool policy in Admin Console (Integrations > Box MCP Server) for write tools — upload_file, copy/move file/folder, create_box_note, create/update_collaboration, create_shared_link. The Box Action Platform allows or blocks each agent call, returns a structured error on block, and writes every change to the Box event stream for SIEM/SOC pickup. Guardrails are off by default and available to Enterprise Advanced customers.
Why it matters
It gives admins policy-level, point-of-execution control over machine-speed, autonomous agent write actions in a widely used content platform — distinct from the earlier AI Studio agent guardrails — letting a compromised session or over-aggressive workflow be stopped before it reshapes content.
Applicability
Box enterprise admins and security teams should enable guardrails for the MCP write tools they care about and wire the enforcement event stream into their SIEM.
