1Password for Agents — trust layer so AI agents use credentials without seeing them

SolutionsMedium impactGlobal
On Oct 22 1Password launched 1Password for Agents, a platform that lets personal/corporate AI agents sign in to accounts without receiving or storing the credential. When an agent hits a sign-in form it presents a unique digital key, the user approves on their own device, and 1Password fills the form directly. Partnerships span the agent ecosystem: Meta Muse, Anthropic Claude Duet, OpenAI ChatGPT Work/dots, SpaceXSI Grok Bot, Town Townie, plus Browserbase, Browser Use, Perplexity, Ramp, Instinct, KERNEL, Wajo.
This extends a mainstream identity-vault vendor into the agent-authorization layer: it makes credential handling the trust boundary between an agent and the accounts it acts on, rather than sharing a password. Signals that agent credential governance is consolidating into identity platforms, and gives non-human identity a consumer/personal-agent path.
Identity/security teams evaluating how to approve agent access to user accounts; useful for managing personal-usage agents (Muse/Claude Duet/ChatGPT Work) without exposing passwords to the model. Pilot where employee agents already sign into third-party services.
