IETF Internet-Draft revision: Agentic Reasoning Protocol (ARP) v1.3 'Reader Profile' — DNS-bound signatures for entity self-descriptions (draft-deforth-arp-01)

On 12 October 2026 (datatracker 'Last updated 2026-10-12'), the individual Internet-Draft 'Agentic Reasoning Protocol (ARP): DNS-Bound Signatures for Entity Self-Descriptions' was updated to revision -01. Version 1.3 ('Reader Profile') specifies a JSON manifest served at a well-known location with an optional Ed25519 signature bound to the domain via a public key in a DNS TXT record, adding a required provenance statement, wording profile (third-person statements), Markdown representation bound by SHA-256, a discovery profile and key revocation via an empty DNS key value. The signature proves the domain operator published the exact file unaltered (not that its statements are true).
As agent-to-agent interactions and agent marketplaces grow, claims about an agent's identity/capabilities need domain-anchored, tamper-evident attestation. ARP v1.3 is a lightweight contribution to the emerging IETF/IETF-adjacent agent-authentication and trust landscape, giving implementers an option for verifiable entity self-descriptions without heavy PKI.
Teams building agent registries, agent marketplaces or AI supply-chain attestation should assess ARP v1.3 as a candidate mechanism for domain-verifiable agent self-descriptions and track its continued development.
