2026 KPMG US CEO Outlook

Strategic ReportMedium impactUnited States
KPMG surveyed more than 1,300 CEOs at large companies globally, including 400 in the United States (all with revenues over US$500 million), and found a C-suite agenda 'dominated by the immense opportunities and complex risks of generative AI, which has moved from a future ambition to a present-day reality that is actively shaping corporate strategy, margins, and workforce design.' Of US CEOs, 84% report AI is a top investment priority and 89% expect to increase headcount over the next three years, while 78% say regionalization (nearshoring/friend-shoring) is now more important than cost optimization in supply chain decisions and 79% anticipate geopolitical conflict will affect prosperity. CEOs flagged cyber as their top risk today, driving increased investment and planning.
Gives US executives a benchmarkable read on how peer CEOs are weighting generative AI investment, cyber risk, and supply-chain resilience in their three-year plans.
Benchmark your own AI-investment and cyber-risk posture against the survey's CEO responses before year-end planning.
