What happened
Also at its Oct 14 Summit, Arctic Wolf unveiled Aurora Adaptive Threat Protection, a next-gen endpoint product using intent-based detection: it builds a causal graph of endpoint activity (processes, files, registry, APIs) with a custom-trained small language model to spot when benign-looking actions converge toward a malicious outcome earlier than IoC-based EDR, then automatically interrupts and reverses the whole attack chain. Designed to complement existing EPP/EDR rather than replace them.
Why it matters
Represents the shift from reactive EDR to preemptive intent detection ('deny, deceive, disrupt') that Gartner flags for the AI-augmented-attack era, and it is agentic-AI-driven rather than signature-based. Material new endpoint capability from a top-tier security vendor in the AI-for-security market.
Applicability
Security teams running legacy EPP/EDR that want an AI complement for ransomware/credential-theft interruption should evaluate Aurora Adaptive Threat Protection alongside existing endpoint tools; endpoint product comparisons should include intent-based detection.
