Unlocking Value: AI for Resilient Growth in MENA

Strategic ReportMedium impactGlobal
The World Economic Forum, produced in collaboration with Bain & Company, published this report at its Annual Meeting of Global Future Leaders in Dubai on 2026-10-14. It estimates AI could unlock more than $1 trillion in economic and sustainability value across the Middle East by 2030, including $200 billion through sustainable finance. The report moves beyond theory, drawing on five AI prototypes built with leading regional institutions — First Abu Dhabi Bank, ADNOC, Bahrain's Ministry of Sustainable Development and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Economy and Planning — covering sustainable-finance decision-making, climate-hazard prediction in energy value chains, translation of ESG data into strategic performance intelligence, SME financing, and cross-sector collaboration. It distils these into replicable implementation models while noting that realising the value 'will depend on overcoming persistent barriers to scale, including implementation constraints, fragmented efforts and institutional capacity gaps.'
For multinationals with MENA operations or AI-services ambitions, this is the current WEF-endorsed quantification of the region's AI opportunity and the concrete sovereign/institutional prototypes that define credible demand and partnership pathways.
Route to the regional/MENA business lead as the reference for AI-growth positioning and partnership targets (FAB, ADNOC, sovereign ministries) ahead of MENA AI engagement planning.
