What happened
On Oct 8, Anthropic announced the Anthropic Cyber Mission, a long-term commitment to support defenders with tools, research, and resources. It introduces the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP), which brings frontier Claude models, on-site Anthropic engineers, and threat research to the OT defenders protecting power grids, water, and transportation. Founding partners include Accenture, Booz Allen, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Dragos, Hitachi, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks, PwC, and Rockwell Automation; work is already underway with a cohort of providers.
Why it matters
This is a direct supplier-side push to close the OT/ICS vulnerability gap using frontier models, with major security vendors (CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, Dragos, Nozomi) as initial partners — an unusually concrete, partner-laden critical-infrastructure security initiative from Anthropic beyond its earlier OSS Scanner and cyber verification work.
Applicability
OT/ICS security providers and critical-infrastructure operators should track CIDP's deliverable AI-assisted OT vulnerability programs; security vendors serving OT should consider registering as program partners.
