What happened
At Navigate 2026 (Oct 6), SailPoint announced a fleet of Autonomous Agents (three classes) that govern AI/MCP activity at machine speed, plus A-ISPM which continuously detects orphaned access, shadow admins and privileged outliers across all identity types and closes the loop with one-click or automated remediation; expanded Agentic Fabric adds shadow-AI discovery, runtime authorization and instant kill-switch controls, with JIT/zero-standing-privilege now extended to AI agents.
Why it matters
SailPoint's Horizons report (79% of enterprises run AI agents in production but only 2% use purpose-built identity security) frames the market gap; this is a significant-identity vendor shipping runtime agent governance with kill-switch, MCP context and ZSP — the defacto category for enterprises that already standardize on SailPoint IGA.
Applicability
Large enterprises with SailPoint Atlas in place should evaluate Autonomous Agents and A-ISPM when standing up agentic AI workloads and MCP tool access; assess against Aembit/Okta/AppViewX for runtime scope.
