What happened
On Oct 6, 2026 HTB introduced AI Range Enterprise Edition, extending its agent-testing platform (first launched Dec 2025) to enterprise security teams. It adds Agentic Worker Competence (role-based appraisal of an org's own AI agents against defined cyber roles, with pass/fail and performance-over-time) and Agentic Operator Competence Scoring (evaluating whether human practitioners can judge/intervene on AI-agent work) with AI-augmented pentester and SOC-analyst roles available now.
Why it matters
It addresses an emerging blind spot: AI agents are hired without being tested against the actual roles they will perform, and performance drifts as models/data/threats change. This gives security leaders evidence-gated approval of agent adoption and a way to build the human judgment layer that oversees agentic SOC work.
Applicability
Security leaders deploying AI agents in the SOC should adopt role-based appraisal before granting agents production scope; security-training teams should use Agentic Operator scoring to certify analysts who direct AI work.
