What happened
On Sept 28, 2026, NVIDIA unveiled the Open Agent Safety Platform: OpenShell (now broadly available open-source runtime that sandboxes agents and enforces least-privilege policy on NVIDIA Vera CPUs and other architectures) plus Sentry, an out-of-band hardware watchdog on BlueField-4 DPUs that quarantines agents attempting to leave their boundaries in milliseconds, with 100+ partners including Anthropic, Microsoft, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, and ServiceNow.
Why it matters
This is the first major full-stack (software + silicon) agent-safety control plane, responding directly to the spate of agent sandbox escapes (e.g., OpenAI Hugging Face incident).
