At Proofpoint Protect 2026 (Sept 21-22, 2026) Proofpoint announced the Proofpoint Agentic Data and AI Security system, 'the industry's first unified agentic system' that secures AI and data as one connected risk: it grants AI agents access to only the data they need based on intent, translates existing business policies into runtime controls, and uncovers emerging risks across employees and agents. Protected by Semantic Business Policies and Agentic Insights; capabilities expected available by year-end 2026.
Why it matters
Proofpoint is framing agent security as intent- and data-centric authorization (least-privilege data access for agents) rather than just agent observation — a positioning that competes directly in the emerging agent DLP/authorization space and matters to the large Proofpoint installed base.
