Orchid Security adds AI-agent identity drift detection and application-level kill switches

Orchid Security announced (Sept 9, 2026) new AI-readiness controls on its Identity Control Plane: continuous identity drift detection and application-level kill switches that can suspend or revoke an AI agent's access when it exceeds its authorized privilege level, addressing latent 'identity debt' (hard-coded credentials, orphaned accounts, excessive permissions) that agents can exploit within seconds.

Targets a concrete, fast-moving agentic risk — privilege escalation via pre-existing identity debt rather than novel prompt attacks — with an actionable circuit-breaker control, and integrates with Palo Alto Networks Idira and Splunk ES.

Identity and security architecture teams with agents holding standing application access should pilot drift detection/kill-switch controls as part of Q4 agent-governance rollouts.
