What happened
Solo.io announced (Sept 10, 2026) a standalone deployable mode for Solo Enterprise for agentgateway (single binary/container runnable anywhere), alongside two new components: agentdesktop, an open-source governance layer bringing inventory, managed configuration, non-human identity and observability to desktop-run AI agents (e.g. Claude Code, Codex), and agentevals, an OpenTelemetry-based agent behavior/quality-signal capture tool.
Why it matters
Extends agentic-AI governance (identity, policy, observability) beyond the data-center/cloud gateway down to the developer workstation, closing a governance gap for the fastest-growing class of unmanaged agent activity — coding-agent harnesses running locally.
Applicability
Platform/security engineering teams standardizing on agentgateway/MCP tooling, and orgs with widespread desktop coding-agent usage, should evaluate agentdesktop for endpoint-level agent inventory and policy enforcement now.
