Nutanix Enterprise AI 2.8 ships GA MCP Gateway for governed agentic tool access

SolutionsHigh impactGlobal
Nutanix announced general availability (Aug 26, 2026) of Nutanix Enterprise AI 2.8, moving MCP server management in its Agent Gateway from preview to GA — a single secure ingress point for agents to reach tools/data with fine-grained per-user/API-key IAM, local MCP server deployment, rolling updates, and a companion MCP Server for Nutanix-managed infrastructure. A Custom Role Builder and header-based token-budget rate limiting (tech preview) round out governance controls.
MCP gateways are becoming the default control point for agent-to-tool access; a GA (not preview) offering from a major hybrid-cloud/AI-infrastructure vendor with fine-grained IAM and audit gives enterprises a concrete way to close the shadow-MCP-server and over-privileged-service-account gaps Microsoft's own threat research flagged this same week.
Enterprises running Nutanix Cloud Platform/NAI evaluating agentic AI deployments now have a production-ready MCP governance layer to adopt in place of ad hoc per-tool connectors.
