What happened
Okta announced (Aug 24, 2026) general availability of Agent SSO, bringing the open Cross App Access (XAA) standard into production so enterprises can give AI agents scoped, short-lived, centrally governed access to third-party apps instead of shared credentials or blanket OAuth consent.
Why it matters
This is a major identity-provider vendor formalizing agent-to-app authorization as a first-class, auditable control — a foundational primitive for agentic-AI governance that many other vendors (e.g., Jamf) are already building integrations against.
Applicability
Enterprises deploying AI agents that need to call third-party SaaS/APIs on a user's behalf should evaluate Agent SSO/XAA now as an alternative to static API keys or broad OAuth scopes.
