What happened
On July 29, 2026, NIST released an Initial Public Draft of 'Guidance and Templates for Public-Facing AI Documentation: An AI Standards Zero Draft' (NIST AI 300-1 ipd, DOI 10.6028/NIST.AI.300-1.ipd). This is the first concrete zero draft produced under NIST's AI Standards Zero Drafts pilot project (announced March 2025), following a September 2025 extended outline and public comment round.
