What happened
Nvidia announced (July 27, 2026) the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition of nearly 40 companies (including Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Palantir, Dell, Adobe, SpaceX) to jointly develop and share open-source AI security tools, models, and agent harnesses, partly in response to the Hugging Face agentic-breach incident and concerns that closed models refuse to process malicious payloads needed for incident response.
Why it matters
A broad industry alliance around open-source defensive AI tooling signals a structural shift toward shared, vetted models for security use-cases that commercial safety filters currently block — high blast radius given the vendor roster.
