What happened
Harness and Kong announced (July 23, 2026) an expansion of their existing API Gateway integration to Kong AI Gateway, embedding Harness's AI security intelligence to automatically discover, monitor and protect AI agents, LLM-powered services and MCP-connected workflows traversing Kong's connectivity layer.
Why it matters
Brings AI-asset discovery and runtime protection directly into a widely deployed API/AI gateway layer, giving enterprises a control point for the surge in unmanaged agent and MCP traffic.
