Palo Alto Networks — Prisma AIRS AI Gateway reaches General Availability

SolutionsHigh impactGlobal
Palo Alto Networks announced GA (July 16, 2026) of Prisma AIRS AI Gateway, a unified control plane for LLM/MCP/A2A traffic built from the Portkey acquisition (closed ~6 weeks earlier), providing discovery, governance, identity/least-privilege enforcement, and inline data protection across coding assistants, agents, and copilots.
This is a GA launch (not preview) from a top-tier security vendor addressing a documented risk (MCP traffic share up from 11% to 41.4% in six months per PANW's own telemetry) and consolidates AI gateway + runtime security + identity into one enforcement point, raising the bar for competing AI-gateway/agent-security vendors.
Enterprises with production LLM/agent/MCP traffic and platform security teams should evaluate now as a control-plane consolidation option, especially those already on Prisma AIRS or evaluating standalone AI gateways (Portkey, Kong AI Gateway, TrueFoundry).
