What happened
Sophos launched Fusion on July 15, 2026, a rebuilt version of Sophos Central (used by 625,000 orgs) that unifies SecOps, endpoint, network, identity, email and cloud protection into one open, AI-native platform with agentic investigation/response (Synchronized Security) and a shared real-time data layer (context lake). Sophos reports its own agentic SOC already resolves 52% of cases without human involvement with an 89-second average alert-to-response time; additional modules (Next-Gen SIEM, AI Defense for shadow-AI discovery, CISO Advantage) roll out August–October 2026.
Why it matters
This is a major incumbent security vendor reframing its entire platform around agentic AI-driven detection/response as a new product category ('cybersecurity defense system'), competing directly with XDR/SIEM consolidation plays from CrowdStrike, Palo Alto and Microsoft.
