What happened
Jamf announced GA (June 30, 2026) of AI Governance within Jamf for Mac, providing native on-endpoint visibility into AI tools/agents (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, OpenAI Codex at launch), vendor-correct policy enforcement pre-login, MCP server restrictions, and an executive posture report; also integrates with Okta for AI Agents to assign managed identities and short-lived credentials to on-device agents.
Why it matters
First native macOS-level control plane (not proxy/network-based) for AI governance, closing a visibility gap that network/cloud tools can't see for CLI-based dev agents and background processes — broad reach given Jamf's large enterprise Mac fleet install base.
Applicability
Enterprises managing Apple fleets with developer AI tool adoption (Claude Code, Codex) should evaluate immediately for shadow-AI and MCP governance.
